Make map videos for Shorts and Reels
Frame a map animation for 9:16 without losing the places and labels that matter.
1. Compose for a tall frame
Choose the portrait format at the start. Moving between two destinations usually works better than squeezing a wide journey into a narrow view.
2. Leave room for platform controls
Keep essential names and objects away from the edges. Video platforms place controls and captions over parts of the frame, so review the final composition at phone size.
3. Keep each moment readable
Use one main subject at a time. Hold long enough for a label to be understood before moving on. A large label can still be difficult to read when the camera is moving quickly.
4. Export each format separately
A landscape video cropped to portrait may lose important places. Compose and check a dedicated 9:16 version; do the same for 16:9 when sharing to wider screens.
